Legal Services Division

The Legal Services Division's role is a Corporate Function supporting SHENA in all legal matters. 


The Legal Services Division provides legal assistance and support to SHENA officers and staff for the effective delivery of SHENA's core functions and strives to continuously improve the legal framework governing health, safety, environment and radiation through continuous engagement with our stakeholders.


The responsibilities of the Legal Services Division include:


  • The initiation and drafting of HSE and Radiation related legislation and regulations;
  • The Drafting, Preparation and Vetting of Contracts, Legal Documents and Notices
  • The review of international agreements to ensure SHENA's compliance to international best practices.
  • Support and Assistance to the Public Prosecutor in the Prosecution of offences contained in laws under SHENA's jurisdiction.

In performing its role, the Legal Department works closely with the Attorney General's Chambers, the principal legal adviser to the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan to ensure adherence to the Laws of Brunei Darussalam in all aspects.
