Brunei Darussalam reaffirms commitment to Regional Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Cooperation at ASEAN-OSHNET events in Bangkok
BANGKOK, THAILAND – The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), as Brunei Darussalam’s national regulator for workplace safety and health and radiation matters, has reaffirmed its commitment to the regional cooperation by participating in the ASEAN-OSHNET series of events. This event was hosted by Thailand’s Department of Labour Protection and Welfare (DLPW), from 2 to 4 September 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
SHENA recognises national partners in advancing OSH Training and safety culture
Bandar Seri Begawan, 9 December 2025 – The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) held a recognition event today to honour its Learning Partners, Working Group members, and Facilitators involved in OSH training. The event serves as testament to the joint national efforts made at the national level to promote basic Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) awareness across workplaces among Government, Employers, and Workers.
SHENA champions Risk Management and Safety Excellence at Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Training Conference 2025
Bandar Seri Begawan, 21 October 2025 — The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) participated at the Second Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Training Conference 2025, held from 21 to 22 October 2025 at the Training Institute (TI RBAF), Penanjong Garrison. The conference carried the theme "Balancing the Edge: Evolution in Training and a Safety-Driven Environment” where it brought together experts in defence, security, and training professionals to exchange best practices, explore emerging technologies and reinforce safety-centred training methodologies.
SHENA and ILO continues collaboration on National OSH Master Plan Workshop
Bandar Seri Begawan, 18 - 19 November 2025 – The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), successfully concluded a two-day workshop held from 18 to 19 November 2025 in Bandar Seri Begawan. The event builds on SHENA’s ongoing collaboration with the ILO following the 2024 workshop facilitated by the ILO’s expert mission, focusing on strengthening the implementation of ILO Convention No. 187- the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health, which Brunei Darussalam ratified in 2024.
12th ASEAN Network of Regulatory Bodies on Atomic Energy (ASEANTOM) Annual Meeting
JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA – The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) recently attended the 12th Annual Meeting of the ASEAN Network of Regulatory Bodies on Atomic Energy (ASEANTOM), that was held for five days from 11–15 August 2025 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The meeting was chaired and hosted by the Department of Atomic Energy, Malaysia, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysia, in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year.

VIENNA, AUSTRIA, 17 SEPTEMBER 2025 - Brunei Darussalam reaffirmed its commitment to the safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear technology. Through strategic collaboration and sustained engagement with international partners, the country has developed a clearer understanding of its current position, the challenges it faces, and the actions required for continued progress.
SHENA Radiation Engagement Forum 2025
This forum serves as a crucial platform to introduce and provide updates on the new requirements for licence applications and radiation worker registrations, the management of disused radioactive sources, and the establishment of SHENA’s Radiation Dosimetry Services Laboratory. These initiatives form part of our continuous efforts to strengthen the national regulatory framework, protect public health and the environment, and uphold Brunei Darussalam’s international obligations.
