Riadah Berbasikal Semangat Kebangsaan in conjunction with the 36th National Day

Sunday, 1 March 2020 - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on 1st March 2020 consented to participate in the "Riadah Berbasikal Semangat Kebangsaan" in conjunction with the 36th National Day at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Several events were also held concurrently with the cycling activity including interactive activities and exhibitions by Government Ministries, Private Agencies, Corporate Bodies and Non-Government Organization (NGO). The Ministry of Energy participated in the exhibition, showcasing the Ministry's services and initiatives. During the exhibition at the Ministry's booth, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy. Also present was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy.

His Majesty was first introduced to Safety Health Environment National Authority (SHENA), a newly established statutory body set up under the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority Order, 2018 and enforced 1 April 2017. It regulates and enforces all matters pertaining to workplace safety, health and environment as well as radiation in Brunei Darussalam.

Present was the SHENA Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and staff. SHENA showcased its Assets Integrity Process Safety (AI-PS), Radiation equipment and PPE, construction site model, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) demonstration. Highlight during the showcase was the Virtual Reality (VR) demonstration by SHENA Team member. SHENA is adopting technology to create awareness through a gamification approach across Brunei and to educate school children on the importance of HSE in daily life. This approach is hoped to embrace HSE lifestyle from young and at the same time creating a ripple effect to their families and surroundings.

Also showcasing in SHENA's booth are Radiation related equipment which aims to create awareness on types of radiation, radiation exposure and on proper radiation PPE. SHENA is committed to make a difference and ensure Brunei Darussalam is a safe place to work and live and maintaining a robust fit for purpose national safety, health and environmental regulatory framework and ensuring that risks to people, assets and the environment are controlled in compliance with laws and regulations set by the Government, implemented by those who created the risk and underpinned by continuous improvement.
