Radiation Import / Export Authorisation
Authorisation by SHENA is required to import and export radioactive material and/or controlled apparatus in Brunei Darussalam. This is done by submission of the authorisation form (signed by RPO/licensee) to SHENA along with the required supporting documents. SHENA will email the approved authorisation form to the Licensee, who then submit the approved authorisation form through Brunei Darussalam National Single Window (BDNSW) for permit endorsement.

FAQs
Companies intending to import or export radioactive material and/or controlled apparatus to or from Brunei Darussalam are required to obtain a license from SHENA. In addition to this, prior authorisation from SHENA is mandatory for all import and export activities.
The authorisation process involves the following steps:
a) Submit the authorisation form to SHENA, signed by the RPO/licensee, accompanied by all requisite supporting documentation.
b) Following the approval from SHENA, promptly submit an online permit application via the Brunei Darussalam National Single Window (BDNSW - www.bdnsw.gov.bn), through the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED).
Yes. As a supplier, it is essential to inform your end users to amend their licences to include new items before importation. It is advisable for end users to apply for the required licence amendments with SHENA in advance of importing the new X-ray apparatus. This practice ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and helps to prevent any unforeseen cost during the import process with the RCED.
No, once a permit has been approved or revoked, the information within an approved or revoked permit cannot be amended. In such cases, it is advisable for the company to submit a new permit application through BDNSW.
