The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) of the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) hosted a Hari Raya gathering for its stakeholders at The Garden’s Veranda, Rimba Garden Central yesterday.

Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein attended the event.

Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the MEMI Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya as the authority to SHENA, other high-ranking government officials and government Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) focal point representatives from various ministries, as well as relevant stakeholders from the industry were also present.

The gathering was aimed at helping SHENA to foster good relationships with its stakeholders and create awareness on SHENA’s establishment and its mandate.

SHENA is the national authority for workplace safety and health, including environment and radiation matters. The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority Order, 2018 was enacted on October 6, 2018.

The body was set up to enforce several legislations, including the Workplace Safety and Health Order (WSHO), 2009; the Environmental Protection and Management Order (EPMO), 2016; and the Radiation Protection Order (RPO), 2018.
