SHENA Reaches Wider Audience in Oil and Gas Industry

Wednesday, 20 November 2019 – The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) in collaboration with Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd held a socialization event entitled "BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY, THE SHENA STORY". More than 600 participants from the oil and gas industry attended the event which took place at Pusat Insani, Seria.
In his welcoming remarks as the Authority for SHENA, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary of Energy at the Ministry of Energy urged for industry players to collaboratively work with the newly established Industry HSE Group, which comprises members from various industries and non-industries to exchange ideas and explore innovative ways to turn HSE related challenges into opportunities.
Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar added that "regardless where your organisation is on your safety journey or how far your organisation has come, I urge you to take it further; provide the right training required, implement the necessary directives, strengthen the existing policies, take that extra step to ensure safety".
SHENA aspires to drive and strengthen workplace safety and health in all workplaces across all industries. The event is part of SHENA's ongoing Outreach Programme which includes open HSE Forums targeting general industry and non industry sectors, awareness campaigns and engaging relevant stakeholders as well as the general public in pursuit of its mission in making Brunei Darussalam a safe place to work and live.
