The Asia Pacific Safeguards Seminar organized by the International Nuclear Safeguards Engagement Program (INSEP) under the Office of International Nuclear Safeguards, U.S Department of Energy, in partnership with the National Environment Agency of Singapore and the Asia Pacific Safeguards Network (APSN) concluded on the 9 June 2023, Singapore.

The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) participated in the 5-day seminar alongside the Safeguards State regulatory authorities from the Asia-Pacific region, Chair of APSN and experts from the U.S National Nuclear Security Administration, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Resilient Organisations from New Zealand. The seminar enabled SHENA as the Safeguards State Regulatory Authority in Brunei Darussalam to interface with international experts and regional state authorities through experience sharing and identifying effective approaches towards safeguards implementation.

Brunei Darussalam has committed to the comprehensive safeguards agreement (CSA) with the IAEA in 1987 and modified small quantity protocol (mSQP) signed in September 2021.
