The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) held a tree planting activity as part of the nationwide reforestation effort in support of Strategy 2 of the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP) and the Ministry of Energy's Green Protocol initiatives. The event was held on Thursday, 31^st March 2022 at Sungai Berakas Park along the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway.

The SHENA's management and employees successfully planted Tabebuia Rosea tree saplings. Leading the tree planting event was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy as Interim Chief Executive Officer of SHENA.

The tree planting activity aligns with the BNCCP Strategy 2 on Forest Cover, which calls for a concerted effort to increase Brunei Darussalam's carbon sink through afforestation and reforestation. This strategy outlines a national target of planting 500,000 new trees by 2035.
