SHENA regulates and enforces all matters related to workplace Safety, Health and Environment as well as radiation in Brunei Darussalam. A regulatory inspection is conducted to any workplace to verify compliance with Workplace Safety and Health Act, Chapter 277 and the regulations made thereunder and Radiation Protection Act, Chapter 228. The regulatory inspections are scheduled through the Enforcement Division of SHENA’s annual inspection program.

When non-compliance to the laws is identified, SHENA may take enforcement actions. Example of Enforcement Actions can be found here

Monitoring visit is an unannounced visits to any workplace example small construction sites, restaurants and etc. to verify compliance to laws and raise awareness on safety and the regulatory requirements.

Issuance of legal notices such as Warning Letters, Remedial Orders, Stop Work Orders and Compound Fines may be issued when non-compliance to the laws is identified. The summary of SHENA’s monitoring visits conducted is as follow:
