Closing Ceremony of SHENA Safety Month in conjunction with World Day for Safety and Health at Work (WDSHW) 2022

Saturday, 18 June 2022 - The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) today organised a closing ceremony for SHENA Safety Month in conjunction with World Day for Safety and Health at Work (WDSHW) at the sideline of Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition Energy Week 2022.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work falls on the 28th of April each year, and it aims to raise awareness of accident prevention and improve culture and best practices to ensure safety and health compliance in the workplace.
"The Safety Month's events were meant to help better understand on the what's, how's and why's the culture is important to those directly involved, as well as impacted by activities, in the workplace. This understanding is to help strengthen focus on safety and to improve safety performance, thereby creating a workforce that is engaged, competent, and motivated to work safely. It is critical that the understanding and knowledge that were gained, the challenges that have been talked about and recommendations put forward, to be addressed further and implemented in the workplace, for the improvements and benefits of both the current workers and the future workforce." This was highlighted by Yang Mulia Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary, Department of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office as Interim Chief Executive Officer, SHENA.

The prizes were handed over by Yang Mulia Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya. Also in attendance was Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Department of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office.
SHENA has organized a series of events which include radio and television interviews, presentations via live webinar, sharing of safety videos, competitions to raise awareness, as well as thanksgiving prayer event, as initiatives to promote and build a positive safety and health culture at work, corresponding to SHENA's vision of ensuring Brunei Darussalam remains a safe place to work and live.
