SHENA Engages Workplace Safety and Health Officers

23 October 2019

Thursday, 19 September 2019 – The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) held a forum in the Design & Technology Building at Anggerek Desa, entitled WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER FORUM which was arranged to engage workplace safety and health officers as well as HSE advisors from various organizations in Brunei. The forum aimed to advise everyone on the roles and responsibilities of WSH Officers in the workplace.

This forum was monumentally significant as SHENA wishes to work with WSH Officers in supporting of Brunei's aspirations towards Wawasan 2035. It is about quality of life and SHENA's vision of making a difference in Brunei and ensuring that Brunei is a safe place to work and live.

Among other objectives of the forum were:

  • To provide a better understanding on the roles and functions of the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA);

  • To provide a better understanding on the importance of maintaining a high level of HSE awareness within the workplace;

  • To provide insight on the laws governing the requirements of Workplace Safety and Health Officers; and

  • To provide a platform for stakeholders to interact and raise HSE concerns.

This was an opportunity for industry stakeholders to ensure there is a change for the better that is effective and creates a sustainable environment for good practices and learning from experience.

SHENA aims to conduct further outreach programmes through similar forums and awareness campaigns.
