28 April 2022
Thursday, 28 April 2022 - The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) today announced the launching of E-SHENA, an online registration portal, to mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work (WDSHW) this year. The launch was officiated by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md Hussein, Minister of Energy.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work falls on the 28th of April each year, and is aimed to raise awareness of accident prevention in the workplace and improve work culture and best practices to ensure safety and health in the workplace. This year's theme is “Act Together to Build a Positive Safety and Health Culture”. Aligning to the theme, SHENA will explore the topics of participation and social dialogues in creating a positive safety and health culture. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen that having a strong Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) system, which requires participation from all including the government, employers, workers, public health actors and relevant parties in the public and private sectors, is crucial in protecting the working environment and safeguarding the safety and health of workers.
As part of its initiatives in realising and embracing the use of technology in supporting Brunei Darussalam’s national agenda on digital transformation, E-SHENA is introduced which is an online registration portal that allows its stakeholders to apply for registration of their Workplace Safety and Health Officer, Radiation Workers and Licenses at their own convenient time. It is also designed to improve the efficiency of the existing work processes as well as create a more responsive and dynamic work environment.
SHENA also organised a Doa Selamat and Kesyukuran ceremony in the afternoon. The ceremony began with mass Solat Zuhur prayer and the recital of Doa Selamat and Kesyukuran followed by the handing over of donations from SHENA by the Chairman of SHENA Board of Directors, Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Ar. Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Deputy Minister of Development, to 16 invited families.
This year, SHENA also has lined-up activities for World Day for Safety and Health at Work (WDSHW), such as Majlis Doa Selamat and Kesyukuran, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to selected families, Photo and Video Contest and Live Webinars amongst many others.
