Brunei Darussalam set to lead ASEAN-OSHNET in 2027

Da Nang, Viet Nam, 9 July 2026 – Brunei Darussalam is set to assume a regional leadership role in advancing occupational safety and health (OSH) following its participation as Deputy Chair at the 27th ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Network Coordinating Board Meeting (CBM-27), held in conjunction with the 13th ASEAN-OSHNET Conference (AOC-13) from 7 to 9 July 2026. The Brunei Darussalam delegation was led by Yang Mulia Haji Muhsin bin Haji Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA).
The meeting focused on advancing the implementation of the ASEAN-OSHNET Work Plan 2026–2030 and identifying opportunities to strengthen collaboration with international organisations, with the aim of enhancing occupational safety and health standards and practices across the ASEAN region.
In 2027, Brunei Darussalam will assume the ASEAN-OSHNET Chairmanship and host three key regional events: the 14th ASEAN-OSHNET Conference (AOC-14), the 28th ASEAN-OSHNET Coordinating Board Meeting (CBM-28), and the 7th ASEAN-OSHNET Awards.
Brunei Darussalam will also serve as the ASEAN-OSHNET Secretariat from 2027 to 2029, supporting the coordination and implementation of regional programmes and initiatives among ASEAN Member States and partner organisations.
These appointments represent a significant milestone for Brunei Darussalam and reflect the country’s ongoing commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, fostering knowledge exchange, and enhancing capacity building efforts in occupational safety and health.
Through SHENA, Brunei Darussalam remains committed to working closely with ASEAN Member States and international partners to promote safer, healthier and resilient workplaces throughout the region.
