SHENA champions Risk Management and Safety Excellence at Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Training Conference 2025

Bandar Seri Begawan, 21 October 2025 — The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) participated at the Second Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Training Conference 2025, held from 21 to 22 October 2025 at the Training Institute (TI RBAF), Penanjong Garrison.
The conference carried the theme "Balancing the Edge: Evolution in Training and a Safety-Driven Environment” where it brought together experts in defence, security, and training professionals to exchange best practices, explore emerging technologies and reinforce safety-centred training methodologies.
As part of the programme, SHENA participated in an exhibition booth highlighting its regulatory mandate under the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Chapter 277 and the Radiation Protection Act, Chapter 228, including monitoring and enforcement initiatives. Among the main attractions at SHENA’s exhibition was the interactive Virtual Reality (VR) experience, featuring modules, such as, Work at Height and Office Settings: Spot the Hazard, designed to foster hazard awareness and embed a proactive safety culture through immersive learning. The exhibition also featured SHENA’s Radiation Dosimetry Services Laboratory (RDSL), a national facility which offers accurate and reliable personal and environmental radiation dose monitoring services and further reinforcing regulatory compliance under the Radiation Protection Act, Chapter 228.
In addition to the exhibition, SHENA also delivered a presentation that underscored SHENA’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s safety outcomes. The presentation, titled “Overview of SHENA and Brunei Darussalam’s Legal Framework and Code of Practice for Workplace Safety and Health (Risk Assessment)” outlined the relevant legal obligations under the laws of Brunei Darussalam and emphasised risk assessments as a fundamental basis for effective safety management. The session aimed to enhance understanding of regulatory expectations and encourage a systematic approach to identifying and controlling workplace risks.
Through its active engagement, SHENA reaffirmed its strategic vision of ensuring Brunei Darussalam remains a safe place to work and live. Participation in platforms such as the RBAF Training Conference reflects SHENA’s continuous efforts to foster cross-sector collaboration, strengthen institutional resilience, and promote excellence Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance.
