28 AUGUST 2026 - The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) announces that enforcement actions were taken following inspections conducted at workplaces in August 2026 as follows:

1.     CONSTRUCTION WORKSITE IN KAMPONG SENGKURONG B, MUKIM SENGKURONG

An inspection conducted at a construction worksite located in Kampong Sengkurong B, Mukim Sengkurongidentified a failure to comply with Regulation 5, First-Aiders under the Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations.

As a result, a compound fine amounting to BND 500.00 was issued.

Following the inspection, the affected party was instructed to undertake the necessary corrective measures to address the non-compliance identified.

2.    A FLAT UNDERGOING REFURBISHMENT IN BERIBI, GADONG

An inspection conducted at a flat undergoing refurbishment located in Beribi, Gadong identified a failure to comply with Regulation 5, First-Aiders under the Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations.

As a result, a compound fine amounting to BND 500.00 was issued.

Following the inspection, the affected party was instructed to undertake the necessary corrective measures to address the non-compliance identified.

3.    A FLAT UNDERGOING REFURBISHMENT IN BERIBI, GADONG

An inspection conducted at a flat undergoing refurbishment located in Beribi, Gadong identified a failure to comply with Regulation 4, Provision of First-Aid Boxes under the Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations.

As a result, a compound fine amounting to BND 500.00 was issued.

Following the inspection, the affected party was instructed to undertake the necessary corrective measures to address the non-compliance identified.

SHENA reminds all parties that compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Cap 277 and its subsidiary regulations is mandatory at all times. Any occupier who fails to comply with the Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding BND 5,000.

Continued or repeated non-compliances may result in further enforcement action, including prosecution. Depending on the nature and circumstances of any additional or related offences committed under the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Cap. 277 or its subsidiary regulations, offenders may be subject to more severe penalties, including imprisonment.

SHENA remains committed to upholding safety, health, and environmental compliance and will continue to conduct inspections and take appropriate enforcement action in accordance with the law to safeguard workers, the public, and the environment.
